The Hernando Chapter provides educational programs and information to Hernando county's citizens interested in learning about native plants, their ecosystems, as well as all aspects of biological diversity. Our calendar features our activities, as well as those of our partners who provide programs consistent with our mission of preserving, conserving and restoring Florida's native plant communities.

Upcoming Programs, 2008

Monthly Meetings are held the first Monday of the month (unless it falls on a holiday) at the Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service 19490 Oliver Street, Brooksville.  Meetings start at 6:30 p.m.  Our meetings are open to the public and you do not have to be a member to attend.

June 2 -  Gary Maidhoff,  Early Botanists in Florida  A synopsis of the history of some of the early botanists who exploredk discovered and named many of the plants of Florida

  • July 14 Annual Garden Party and Potluck.  Bring your landscape photos, digital and printed  alonge with your favorit dish.

  • August 4 -   Gary Foster, Geology of Hernando County.  George Foster is a professional geologist and president of Creative Environmental Solutions, Inc. of Brooksville.  He has a Master's Degree in Geology from USF.  He is a life-long resident of Brooksville and has been working in geology for 25 years.

  • October -  Bruce Vanderveen, hike in Withlachoochee State Forest to see the fall wildflowers, date TBA.
